On Friday 19 December in Chiuro, Valtellina, the meeting titled Food Landscapes will bring together experts and stakeholders for a day of discussion dedicated to new development scenarios for mountain areas and to the strategic role that culture, landscape and production chains can play in building sustainable and competitive models.
The initiative is part of the activities of the European Horizon Europe project CROCUS, which in Valtellina focuses its research on the cross-border dairy chain as a paradigm of innovation and cooperation between territories. The project is scientifically coordinated by Professor Roberta Garibaldi, who leads an international team of researchers and local actors.
The event is also connected to the Ruràbilis project, dedicated to the cultural enhancement of rurality and artisan supply chains, with the aim of linking communities, local economies and territorial heritage.
During the seminar, universities, institutions, businesses and representatives of mountain communities will discuss crucial themes such as the competitiveness of local supply chains, the prospects of wine tourism in relation to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics, and the opportunities offered by Living Labs for territorial co-design.
Food Landscapes is therefore designed as an occasion to put experiences, best practices and future-oriented projects into dialogue, looking at the future of Italy’s mountain territories through the intertwined lenses of sustainability, innovation and productive traditions.
The event will take place in Chiuro, province of Sondrio, on 19 December 2025.
